This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to work at Sierra Nevada Corporation as a Supply Chain Intern! I had the best summer learning about procurement, subcontracts, working in airplane hangars, and so much more. But one thing many people don’t talk about is the process of actually getting an internship.
During internship application season, I was beyond stressed and started to feel unmotivated after being rejected over and over again. No matter what the outcome was, though, my sorority sisters were always there for me. I knew I had girls I could talk to whether I was sad, happy, or unsure about how an interview went. Without that constant support, I truly wouldn’t be where I am today.
Being surrounded by people who genuinely care about you and want to see you succeed can make such a huge difference in your life, and that’s exactly what I found when I joined my sorority. Even during my internship, if I had a rough day or was exhausted, I always had a sister I could call or talk to, even if they were in a completely different state. When I didn’t have confidence in myself, my sorority sisters had confidence in me, which speaks volumes about who these girls are as people.
I’m so thankful every day that I joined Greek life and found my home.
